Managed Pressure Drilling System

EKM® MPD History

GRANDOIL started reaserching, developping and manufacturing the first generation of EKM® MPD drilling system in 2013, and successfully applied MPD drilling operations on wells in Tarim Base for CNPC in April 2014. Over years, we have been working hard to improve the control system and upgrade the equipment from G1 to G7, and provided MPD drilling operation services on rigsites from onshore to offshore for CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC in China.

GRANDOIL has owned 22 full packages of EKM® MPD drilling euipment and another 4 packages on building process, has provided MPD drilling services for more than 400 wells onshore & offshore sucessfully since 2014 with experienced MPD drilling teams.

GRANDOIL has also built a completed EKM® MPD drilling operation procedures for engineering.

EKM® MPD drilling operations would not start until all crews are confident in the procedures

5. Potential hazards during EKM® MPD drilling

 Poor communication
 Not good training or learning
 Underbalanced BHP to cause kick
 Not following procedures

 Gas & hot mud release
Overpressure to fracture formation to losses
Trapped pressure in lines and rams
