EKM® MPD History

GRANDOIL began the research, development, and manufacturing of our first-generation EKM® MPD System in 2013, achieving a milestone commercial deployment in April 2014 for CNPC in the Tarim Basin. Through years of dedicated engineering and control system optimization, we have advanced the technology from Generation 1 to Generation 7. Today, GRANDOIL provides comprehensive onshore and offshore MPD drilling services to China’s major operators, including CNPC, Sinopec, and CNOOC.

GRANDOIL operates an extensive fleet of 32 complete EKM® MPD systems, having successfully delivered specialized drilling services for more than 400 wells since 2014. Grounded in this vast field experience, the company has established a comprehensive framework of proprietary EKM® MPD engineering standards, operational guidelines, and rigorous safety requirements to ensure flawless execution.

 Hazardous areas and evacuation routes

 Radio communication protocol
 Safety practical drills

No EKM® MPD operations may proceed until all operational members are fully clear and aligned on all MPD procedures.

5. Risk Analysis during EKM® MPD drilling

 Poor communication
 Insufficient training
 Kick due to underbalanced BHP
 Failure to follow procedures

 Release of trapped gas and/or hot mud
 Losses due to induced formation fracture from over pressure
 Trapped pressure in lines

 Poor communication with MPD crew during mud tank operations  and critical valve manipulation (rig choke manifold, standpipe, and BOP).
