EKM® MPD system mainly consists of RCD, Auto-Choke manifold, MPD Control center, Back Pressure Pump (BPP), Surface piping, Non-return valve (NRV), MWD/PWD tool (optional).

The Rotating Control Device (RCD) is the core component of the closed-loop system, diverting returning drilling fluid from the wellbore to the automated choke manifold for precise measurements. From the auto-choke manifold, fluid is routed to the mud tanks via either the mud-gas separator (MGS) or the shale shakers. The Back Pressure Pump (BPP) takes suction directly from the mud tanks, discharging fluid to the rig choke manifold and upstream of the auto-choke manifold. This configuration allows the system to maintain wellbore fill-up during trips and apply targeted backpressure whenever required.
Auto-Choke Manifold
The automated choke manifold is designed to automatically regulate wellhead pressure (WHP) to a target setpoint while capturing critical measurements for real-time kick and loss detection.

MPD Control Center
MPD Control Center provides a dedicated operational workspace for the crew, serving as the central hub for real-time monitoring and command of all Managed Pressure Drilling operations.

Rotating Control Device (RCD)
Critical closed-loop device providing dynamic wellbore sealing and diverting return fluid to the automated choke manifold for pressure control and monitoring.
▲ Standard: API-16 RCD ▲ Sour gas services: MR0175-2003 ▲ Dual element: DP 3 1/2" - 5 7/8" |

Back Pressure Pump Utilized to apply and maintain wellhead pressure (WHP) when the rig pumps are offline and to ensure the wellbore remains filled with drilling fluid as required. ▲ Pump type: Triplex plunger pump ▲ Engine: diesel engine |

MWD/PWD Tool
Normally MWD/PWD is used for real-time measuring well trajectory. It enables us to take real-time bottom hole pressure and to perform dynamic formation pressure test. The data from this tool could be used as an indicator of well influx or mud loss.
Pressure Rating: 20000 psi
Temperature Rating: 350 °F

Surface piping
Piping is for connections between different equipment. There are two types of piping available: rigid steel pipes and flexible armored hose with union or flanged connectors. Special customization can be fabricated upon request.
▲ Main return line: 4 1/16" or 5 1/8", 5000 psi, steel or armored hose
▲ Choke discharge line: 4 1/16" or 5 1/8" , 2000 psi, steel or armored hose
▲ Back Pressure Pump discharge line: 2 1/16", 5000 psi, steel or armored hose
▲ Back Pressure Pump inlet line: 4 1/16", 1450 psi armored hose
